Excursion

Q1 theater trip

The 25-strong class met with Ms. Heilen at Gronau station at 5:35 p.m. and were able to make the train journey to Münster main station in full. After a short break for everyone, the class set off on foot to the Wolfgang Borchert Theater to watch the play on time.

The play revolved around a criminal lawyer who was sent to a "mindfulness coach" by his wife in order to bring less stress home from work and therefore have more time for their daughter. When the lawyer wants to spend a weekend at the beach with his daughter, his mafia client forces him to help him go into hiding. This initial situation gives rise to many exciting and amusing situations involving violent crimes, kindergartens and other entanglements.

Particularly funny were the scenes in which the main character used his coach's "mindfulness advice" in what were actually very dangerous, dramatic situations, which didn't really fit the mood at all. Tension was created, for example, when the lawyer was about to be exposed by the driver of his client who had been killed. In general, it can be said that the actors played their roles convincingly, even if some characters, such as the lawyer's daughter, seemed exaggerated at times. In any case, it should be praised that there were a total of over twenty characters played by just three actors.

It was also impressive how different locations were created using only light and acting: The stage set consisted solely of a Peugeot convertible, which was transformed into a variety of locations depending on the scene, e.g. a lawyer's office, a children's playground or a torture cellar.

This theater trip will certainly be remembered by the literature class for a long time to come and perhaps inspire their own play in the summer.
